Our Projects

The European Way of Corporate Citizenship

Project Summary

In cooperation with the John Deere Foundation, PHINEO/United Way Germany has created a project which addresses key social needs such as food security, youth education, and community building in Germany. The project portfolio combines volunteering efforts, financial support, and capacity building.

Partner

John Deere is the brand name of Deere & Company, an American corporation that manufactures agricultural machinery, heavy equipment, forestry machinery, diesel engines, drivetrains used in heavy equipment, and lawn care equipment.

Goal

We enable impactful social change in the fields of food security and youth education as well as establishing a vivid corporate citizenship culture in Germany.

Target Group

We, with John Deere’s extraordinary workforce, serve the youth and families who live, work, and learn in John Deere’s home communities to ensure their inclusive and equitable access to resources and educational opportunities.

Locations

“The European Way of Corporate Citizenship” is coordinated in Berlin and implemented in the cities of Mannheim, Bruchsal, Kaiserslautern, Zweibrücken, Walldorf, Stadtlohn, Windhagen, Tirschenreuth, and Ludwigshafen.

Activities

Day of Caring

A hands-on volunteering experience which has already become a tradition in six cities. On designated days of caring, company employees pack bags for local food banks.

Skills-Based Volunteering

This opportunity is implemented in cooperation with two nonprofits and includes mentoring to support youth at risk seeking to start their career as well as to empower youth for STEM.

Knowledge Lab

A component which includes trainings, publications, public conferences as well as the creation of handbooks.
